Places to visit in Fethiye during a Blue Cruise-2

Letoon

During the Marmaris-Fethiye-Marmaris yacht charter out of Fethiye and the Antalya-Kekova-Antalya yacht charter out of Demre or Kas, you will have the opportunity to visit Letoon. Ancient Letoon was one of the important cities of Lycia, which existed in the VIII century BC. The city was built in honor of Apollo, Artemis and their mother – the goddess Leto. The ruins of three churches, the original mosaics and magnificent amphitheater, located in the settlement attract the Turkey yacht charter passengers with their striking beauty.

The city’s name comes from the name Summer, mother of Apollo and Artemis. There are three local churches devoted for these three mythical characters. There has not been such a city as Letoon, despite the fact that it was surrounded by villages. It has a sacred territory, the spiritual center of Xanthos and Lycia, the sanctuary of the Lycian Union, the host of national festivals. So it remained until VII century when it was abandoned.

Xanthos

Another must to see place during the Marmaris-Fethiye-Marmaris yacht charter or the Antalya-Kekova-Antalya yacht charter is ancient Xanthos – the former capital of the Lycian Federation and one of the greatest cities in the region’s history. Judging by the age of archaeological findings in the territory, the city was founded in the VIII century BC. However, it is possible that Xanthos already existed in the Bronze Age or early Iron Age.

The city is located on the top of a hill, in a valley that gave its name. Close to date, it is Kinik village. The village has been a natural stop of tourists and Turkey yacht charter guests with elevated Xanthos, beautiful view of the valley surrounded by picturesque mountains of Taurus.
